Trees for the Future
Trees for the Future is a 501(c)(3) public charity with a grassroots, people-to-people action program that promotes and supports tree-planting and environmentally sustainable self-help projects, in cooperation with local people in their own communities around the world. TREES provides environmental education, on-site planning assistance and technical training in sustainable agriculture and agroforestry; as well as in-kind donations of fast-growing, multi-purpose tree seeds and basic project supplies to local groups in developing communities. Projects are designed to optimize benefits for participants and the environment, by strengthening the capabilities of local institutions to support the development of sustainable livelihoods for people on threatened and degraded lands, e.g.: rebuilding soils for more productive fields, erosion control, replenishment of groundwater reserves and restoration of habitat to conserve biological diversity.
