Founder Member of Hawkers Market Girls Centre Receives an award.




On the occassion of Thinking Day Tuesday 22nd February 2022, the Kenya Girl Guides Association honoured their long serving members.
Among the recipients were Chairman of the Hawkers Market Girls Centre, Mrs. Honorine Kiplagat, Chairman of Trustees KGGA, Shariffa Keshavjee, Trustee KGGA.
The Olave Baden Powell Award was presented by the First Lady of Kenya, patron of KGGA, Her Excellency Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
This was a special thinking day for Kenya as it celebrated 100 years of Guiding.
The Olave Baden Powell Award is in recognition of a Guide putting service above self.
Mrs Keshavjee’s work with the Girl Guides at the Hawkers Market Girls Centre for over 30 years was recognized.
National Cup Competition Youngleaders-2013
This years National Cup Competitions for the Kenya Girl Guides Assosiation was held at Kimalel in Baringo County which saw participants from different parts of Kenya come to compete.
Kenya Cricket Team
Three of our girls were selected to joined the Kenya national cricket team therefore when the league starts which is in December they will be playing for their country.
KGGA International Cup
We hold the International cup from the Kenya Girl Guides Association which is a competition that takes place every year and brings participants all over the country for Guiding competitions
BBC World Challenge 2008
HGMC was one of 12 finalists in the BBC World Challenge 2008. This global competition recognizes and awards gross root level projects or small businesses around the world that have shown enterprise and innovation.
UN Habitat Peace Cup 2008
We won the UN Habitat Peace cup in the year 2008 after participating in the peace run that was organized by UN during the post election violence workshop.
FAO WAGGGS Award for Food and Nutrition 1998
Out of 140 participating countries, HGMC was granted an Award for Food and Nutrition by the UN Food and Agricultural Organization and the World Association of Girl Guides for the HMGC students ability to plant their own food and use harvested rain water.
